Maumelle, Arkansas - Together We Thrive

A Note from the Mayor

November is a busy month with sports (football season winding down and basketball beginning), raking leaves, holidays, planning budgets for next year, and winding up projects before the end of the year.

The first event in November that you may want to attend is Maumelle Charter School’s Fall Festival. This is an outdoor event on Friday, November 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is the PTO’s largest fundraiser, and they need everyone’s support!

Please join us to celebrate Veterans Day, Monday, November 12, (the day after the official Veterans Day) at 4:00 p.m. to honor the service of all U.S. military veterans. This celebration will be at the Maumelle Veterans Memorial at Lake Willastein. Council Member Ken Saunders is organizing the event to help us recognize our veterans and show appreciation for their dedication and service. We are grateful for Council Member Saunders’s commitment to Maumelle and to our veterans.

Once again, the Maumelle community will celebrate Thanksgiving Day together. This year, the Thanksgiving meal will again be at the Center on the Lake (not the Jess Odom Community Center). For a small fee, you can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast along with friends and family without the hassle of cooking and cleaning up. The Timmons Art Foundation hosts this event each year along with a host of volunteers. Volunteers help set-up, serve food, greet guests as they arrive, and clean-up. If you would like to volunteer (and you are needed), please contact us at City Hall; we will pass your information to the organizers. In addition, please consider baking a pie and/or cake to donate for the event. Some of the desserts are for the meal, and some are for prizes for games, including the “cake walk.”

Although this event is not in November, the registration occurs in November; therefore, I have included it in this month’s news. The River Park Civitan Club is once again sponsoring the annual Maumelle Christmas Parade. The parade will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 and will follow the same route as the Fourth-fest Parade. It will start at the corner of Audubon Drive and Millwood Circle, proceed east, turn south on to Club Manor Drive, then turn northwest back onto Audubon Drive, ending at Lake Willastein Park. For more information on registering for the parade, contact Mary Buford at 501-920-4298 or

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed about events in Maumelle, both socially and within our local government. It is impossible to include every subject in this newsletter, so if you have questions about anything that is not covered, please contact me. I will do my best to answer your questions with the most current information that is available. I look forward to hearing from you and encourage you to attend city meetings and to learn firsthand what is happening in our city!
